New figures from UNICEF show that through the efforts of UNICEF, their supporters and other world health agencies, we have reduced that number from 22,000 a day to 21,000 a day.  Read more about it here at UNICEF. In spite of that, it is still unbelievable that for lack of the basic immunizations, clean water and other easily provided needs that 21,000 children will die each day. That's 7,665,000 children a year who are dying and we are helping to help stop it! Project Edan supports UNICEF's programs to lower this number. It's a big job and sometimes it seems impossible, but consider this. So far that number has gone from 36,000 a day to 22,000. It doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen. Children At Risk in Africa In case you missed the original broadcast, take a moment to watch the Nightline special about the crisis in the Horn of Africa and the UNICEF emergency supply flight that U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s President and CEO took part in with ABC correspondent Cynthia McFadden. Your donations to Project Edan help buy lifesaving supplies like the medical equipment the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge helped to pack at the UNICEF supply center in Copenhagen.  The Royal couple was there to bring attention back to the Horn of Africa crisis, and helped pack some emergency medical kits as part of their visit. Your donations also ensure a presence for UNICEF on-the-ground in places where children are in desperate need.  Not only is UNICEF treating children in the Horn of Africa suffering from life-threatening malnutrition, but they are also taking steps to prevent them from getting to that point.
